Patients are seen by appointment only and these are for one person.
New Appointment System
Following much thought and discussion amongst the Partners, staff and comments from patients, we will be trialling a new Appointment System from 1st November 2016.
The GPs will telephone triage the same day appointment requests and address them accordingly. Please make sure you give the receptionist your up-to-date telephone number.
This will allow you to speak with the GP and jointly make a decision on the best management of your concern.
If an urgent appointment is needed your GP will book one for you for that day.
There will still be routine appointments for booking ahead through the practice reception and Online, these are 10 minutes in length.
We are hoping this new system will help alleviate some of the stress felt by patients, doctors and staff at not being able to offer a GP appointment and also giving more flexibility of appointments.
We would appreciate your feedback on this new system and if it works for you - we will be putting questionnaires out in reception, please look for them and complete them - your views are important to us.
As previously we will aim to see you within 30 minutes of your appointment time, however, please bear in mind that delays can happen, for example a doctor may be called out of the surgery to attend an emergency, if this happens we will endeavour to give an explanation and offer an alternative appointment if you choose not to wait. If you have been waiting over 30 minutes please speak to the receptionist.
Emergency appointments will be allocated as need dictates, in the afternoon it is the duty doctor, and you may not be able to see the doctor of your choice.
Appointments with the practice nurse are at 10-minute intervals.
The practice nurses run the following clinics: childhood immunisations - you must bring the red book, routine adult injections, cervical cytology, chronic obstructive airways disease, asthma, diabetes, heart monitoring, stroke, well person, new patient checks, over 75 assessment and travel health vaccinations - please access the NHS Choices Travel Health information and print it out to bring to your appointment. The length of these appointments is tailored to the clinic.
Please telephone reception and they will be happy to book you an appropriate appointment.
Pre bookable routine doctor and nurse appointments are available at Rainworth one Saturday a month from 8.30am – 12.30pm. Saturday surgeries are also at Crown Medical Centre, alternate Saturdays, and Farnsfield one Saturday a month, 8.30am - 12.30pm. These will not be with a Rainworth GP or nurse.
If you are unable to keep an appointment please let us know as soon as possible, this will allow us to offer it to someone else who may need it.
You can cancel your appointment, with either the doctor or nurse, online on the Surgery website up to an hour before the time it is due – this is very easy, but to do it you need to register to use the online facility with the Practice. Please telephone and request this be set up for you, you will be given a Username and Password unique to you to use. This same Username and Password will give you access to ordering Repeat Prescriptions online.
