On the 25th May 2018 a new European Law came into play for all organisations.

 Please notify reception if you are happy for us to contact you via Letter, Telephone Call or Text.

 Failing to do this could affect your health care as Rainworth Surgery is legally required to work within the new regulation and requires explicit consent from our patients for specific forms of contact.

Shingles Vaccine    Please consider a Shingles vaccination if you are 70-73 and your birthday is between 2 September 1942 and 1 September 1946, or 78-79 with your birthday 2 September 1936 - 1 September 1938, ask at Reception for further information.

Minor Surgery Clinic

Minor surgery clinics are arranged by need, please see a GP in order to discuss your needs.

Joint Injection Clinic

Dr Bolsher and Dr Wilkins offer joint injections, these can be carried out at your usual appointment.  Please make sure that you tell the receptionist that your appointment is for a joint injection.  You will need to have seen a GP prior to this appointment.

Minor Injuries

Minor injuries such as sprains, bumps and minor cuts can be seen at the practice. Please call and ask for an appointment.

Family Planning

We provide advice on all aspects of birth control during surgery consultations. Please make an appointment to see a nurse for contraception advice.

Chronic Disease Management

This includes diabetes, asthma, COPD, heart disease and stroke. Patients will be invited for an annual review by the Practice Nurse but can make an appointment with the Practice Nurse between these times if they have any concerns about their condition.

Health Checks

If you’re aged 40-74 and have not been diagnosed with heart disease, stroke, diabetes, kidney disease or certain types of dementia, you are entitled to a free NHS health check. We also offer well woman and well man health checks with a Healthcare Assistant. Please ask at reception or call to book a health check.


Every autumn we have seasonal flu vaccine clinics. These are mainly for patients 65 and over, immuno-compromised patients, diabetics, those with chronic conditions including chest problems (eg asthma and bronchitis), heart problems (eg angina), kidney problems and pregnant ladies.

There is also a vaccine called Pneumovax II available at any time against bacterial chest infections and pneumonia recommended for the same patients.

Paediatric Surveillance

Eight week checks are performed by GPs. Baby vaccinations are also given at this time or alternative times are available if required. Click here for more information about the current vaccination schedule

Smoking Cessation - SmokeFreeLife Nottinghamshire

Stop smoking clinics are held at the practice on Friday afternoons between 3pm and 6pm.  Please ask the Receptionist for a 'Cheque' which you can fill out, hand back to the Receptionist and the Smoking Cessation Advisor will collect on her next visit to the practice.
